Our Environmental Policy
Constructor acknowledges that every business must measure and manage the impact of its work on our environment.
Protecting the environment significantly benefits our business in a number of ways - effective environmental practices pay for themselves. Tackling environmental issues helps to maintain our good reputation with our stakeholders - our customers, regulators, the local community, your employees, our investors and our suppliers.
Effective environmental practices help our business save money, as we continue to face financial pressures from higher energy and waste disposal costs and more environmental taxes.
Our environmental responsibilities include maintaining a regard for the following:emissions into the air
* proper storage and disposal or recovery of business waste
* storing and handling hazardous substances
* discharges of wastewater
* packaging
Making our business more sustainable
Constructor believes that, if we meet the challenges of environmental responsibility by taking a long-term view, we will increase our business' potential to grow. At a strategic level, we seek to measure our performance, managing our impact on the environment and obtaining the commitment of our employees.
We also believe that taking a sustainable approach can also improve our performance and profitability through lower costs, better stakeholder relations and greater innovation..
Our products
Sustainability isn't just about our business – we believe we should also consider the environmental and social impact of our goods or services
Our core products are made, predominantly, from steel. Steel is one of the most recycled raw materials in the world. Systems do not yet exist to allow us to manage the proportion of recycled steel in our finished products, as they do with plastic. So we set out to design our products in such as way as to minimise the amount of waste material generated in the production. What waste material we do create is returned for reprocessing. And wherever we replace storage products made from steel, we take steps to ensure that the product we replace is itself returned for recycling.
Similarly, we manage our plastic products procurement and waste programmes in ways that maximise the use of recycled raw materials, in processes that minimise the production of waste.
Throughout the Constructor Group, we promote an awareness of not only the money cost, but the environmental cost of the paper, heat and light we use on an everyday basis, to run our businesses.
The Constructor Environmental Policy is constantly developing and improving, drawing on new ideas and practices, bringing an understanding of the impact of every part our business on the environment, and promoting a protective regard for the fragility and value of our irreplaceable environment.
